Soaker Hose Madness

I've been wanting to install a soaker hose for years, finally I did. I'm hoping to see three big differences with this hose, less water usage, fewer weeds, and fewer disease problems since less water will be splashing soil up on the plant leaves to spread disease. I thought I only needed about 150ft to get the job done, after some searching I found the best deal to be a 250ft roll online and I used it all so my advise is to buy more than you think you'll need. I also had to purchase a couple of fittings to add onto the hose, which wasn't a big deal. Instead of purchasing pins to hold the hose in place I decided to cut up some extra clothes hangers which worked out well

I had a brief flirtation with the soaker hose experiment during my first year. I could not deal nor control the flow of water. It flushed the raised beds with so much water, that water began leaking out five minutes after the hose had been turned on. I went to the smaller soaker hose, only to find that it jammed up over time and didn't give me enough water. My flirtation with the soaker hose ended there. Hope you have better luck than I did!
