When it comes to the lottery I usually can't win a buck, which is exactly what happened with my Mega Millions tickets last night. But last night I went to an auction for the first time and felt like a big winner because I was able to pick up this beautiful granite sun sculpture. It's in the garden right now, but I'm not sure if that will be it's permanent home. I'll have to think on it for a while....

Coop Progress
I was able to make some progress on the coop. I put my beds together, filled them with soil, topped with mulch. I also did some grading a planted some grass seed. It did cool off today and the next two nights are going to get down into the teens so I am hoping that will not impact the grass seed.....I'll just keep my fingers crossed for the next couple of days!

Another beautiful day
It was in the 80's today and just felt like summer, spent some time in the yard starting some new projects and working on some old ones
The garden was cleaned up a bit and some spinach was planted
The site of last years blow up pool will be the site of the years kids garden
My annual delivery of dirt came today, I also picked up 125 little slate stones that I will be using to create flower beds in front of the coop. I got a great deal, home depot had them on clearence for .23 cents each

The first seeds of the season
I officially planted my first seeds of the season yesterday! Last year was the first time I ever started plants from seed and I was way too early, I started them on Feb 11 to be exact. Plants were outgrowing their containers and blooming inside well before the last frost date. By the time I put them out, many were suffering and did not make it!
One thing I did right was keep a journal of all my activities...so this year I started 3 types of peppers and 3 types of tomato on 3/12 and in a few weeks I'll start some more seeds and keep a records of it all so next year I can look back and correct my mistakes. This year I am also trying a different type of seed starting mix, its made from coconut fiber instead of peat moss. Peat moss isn't as renewable a resource as coconut so I'm all for using renewable resources. You can see the difference in color, the lighter pot is made with peat moss all the rest are coconut...wish me luck

I think my pup is part monkey!
Okay, so I set up a "play pen" in the garage so Conway can be down there with me while I am working on things and she will stay safe and out of trouble...so much for that!
